International Political Economy, Georgetown University
Jackson Nealis is a rising senior at Georgetown University from Sarasota, Florida. He is passionate about pursuing a career in international trade because it not only creates economic opportunities and opens markets but also builds stronger relationships and greater understanding among trading partners. He is particularly interested in how trade policies shape market access, influence economic outcomes, and affect trade flows between countries.
How will the NCITD Scholarship help support you in your studies/prepare for your career?
I am excited to apply this scholarship toward my Senior Honors Thesis research on how regulatory barriers and transaction costs influence international product pricing. Through this research, I hope to deepen my understanding of the political economy of trade and develop the expertise necessary to contribute effectively in both the public or private sector.
Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I hope to be a skilled international trade practitioner in trade compliance, export controls, customs procedures, and the regulatory frameworks that govern global commerce in trade compliance roles. Over the course of my career, I hope to build on that foundation by supporting export promotion and market access initiatives that help U.S. businesses compete internationally, both through the private sector as a market analyst and the public service in International Trade Specialist roles.
More About Me:
I am eager to build on my experience in trade compliance and supply chain operations while expanding my understanding of trade policy, negotiation, and economic diplomacy. I am particularly interested in how trade compliance, market access, and regulatory strategy can be effectively integrated into supply chain management. As global supply chains become increasingly shaped by trade policy, I am enthusiastic about opportunities at the intersection of business operations, trade promotion, and economic diplomacy.
